NEXT MEETING SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2015 THE SECOND SUNDAY

THIS MONTH’S MEETING

Join us this Sunday as we review the 2015 record show and welcome special guest, Jon Adair. Jon was a member of the local 60’s band, The Ramrods and will share his memories of the early days of rock and roll and what the music scene was like here in the Birmingham area, Alabama, and the south. I’m sure he has lots of good stories to tell and we’ll leave with some new and interesting facts about those days.

And as stated we will go over the just completed record show and get updates on pertinent info and also get your feedback as we continue to make our show the best in the land.

PRESIDENT’S UPDATE

Another Great Show! That is what one dealer told me on Sunday afternoon at the end of our 31st BRC Record Show. We also heard other positive comments from customers and dealers alike. This one was a massive undertaking with lots of new things added (like a concert) and like most new things you learn as you go. It was an education to be sure but overall I think it was worth the work and dedication of our members who brought it all together. I think the Birmingham Record Collectors Club has shown that we put on one of the best, if not The Best record show in America. My thanks go out to all of you who worked to set up, man the various jobs and help break down the Gardendale Civic Center. Along with the Executive Committee, I have also met with and thanked Keith from the center for their help. We are already working on making next year even better. With logbookloans.website help that will happen again.

Work on next year’s show is already underway. Charles Cayley has already designed the poster for next year’s 32nd Annual Show. We are working on a list of possible Hall of Fame inductees and with a long term contract signed with the Gardendale Civic Center we can focus on making it even better. If you were not active in this year’s show, you are missing a lot of fun, fellowship and yes, hard work. But that’s what being a part of any club is about. The more you put in, the more you will get out. That really is true. So like a championship team, let’s celebrate this one and then get to work on next year!

UPCOMING BRC MEETINGS

Our November meeting is scheduled to be another in-house record show.  A BRC record show on a much smaller scale.  Members are invited to bring any records they want to sell or trade and set up at one of the tables that will be there.  We plan on sending out special invitations to some of our past record show attendees from our mailing list and give them a chance to look through the vinyl there.  There will be only 12-15 tables and the crowd will be much smaller but it’s a chance to do what we enjoy best, looking for records and having fun and fellowship with some non-members who have the same passion for vinyl we do.  Plan on being there for this special meeting.

BRC NEWS

It’s time to select officers for 2016.  Last year we voted to have a committee prepare and present a slate of officers to the club and have them approved for the upcoming year.  Please give considerable thought to taking a position if the committee talks to you about serving.  None of the positions are a one-person show.  You will have plenty of help to do the job needed.  Here are the positions that will be needed to be filled:

President

VP Advertising

VP Dealer Relations

VP Technology

VP Monthly Programs

VP Membership

VP Hall of Fame

Treasurer

Each VP position will need a committee under them with 2-3 members to work on the duties of the position. Please make plans to volunteer to serve on a committee.

It’s not perfect but here’s a panoramic view of the record show with 3 different photos taken from the walking track above the floor. Maybe it gives you a feel for the view from above.

HEY! HAVE YOU HEARD THIS ONE?

Rockin’ R’s

Nameless

See ya,

Charlie
