The Music Never Dies

I understand the sentiment to connect our friend Ben Saxon's recent and untimely death with "the day the music died". But I have to respectfully disagree. Ben's life as a music fan, a DJ. a musical mentor, a promoter, a founding member of the Birmingham Record Collectors and the force behind this very web site is precisely why the music will NEVER die. There are people all over this world that know the sound of Ben's voice through "The Heart and Soul of Rock 'n Roll" and even if they don't understand his words, they understand the universal language of music and something about music in our particular corner of the world, Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

The music did not die with Buddy Holly or Elvis or John Lennon or Jim Morrison. Thank God. It lives because some of us care about it. We care enough to find it and share it. Ben Saxon's legacy as one who cared for the music is very large. Our sadness and loss will lessen with time, and the music will always be there.
